The Dom Tower (Dutch: Domtoren ' Cathedral Tower ') of Utrecht is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands, at 112.32 metres (368,5 feet) in height. It is considered the symbol of Utrecht. The tower was part of St. Martin's Cathedral, also known as the Dom Church, and was built between 1321 and 1382, to a design by John of Hainaut. The cathedral was never fully completed due to lack of money.

A visit to the Dom Tower always includes a guided tour. Check out our ticket shop for current opening hours along with all available tours. Opening hours Tourist Information Centre Domplein. Restauratie Domtoren 5 jaar, 37 miljoen euro NRC
Hoogste kerktoren. Met 112 meter en 32 centimeter is de Dom de hoogste kerktoren van Nederland. In het fundament van de Domtoren is nog een grote kelder. Daar bovenop staat het eerste vierkant met de grote doorgang. Dit vierkant is 38,6 meter hoog. Het tweede vierkant is 29,48 meter hoog. Bovenop het 2de vierkant staat de achthoekige lantaarn.

De Domtoren staat afgebeeld op een van de beroemdste kunstwerken ter wereld, het Lam Gods van de gebroeders Van Eyck in de Sint-Baafskathedraal in Gent. Lange tijd was het de vraag of de toren er in 1432 door Van Eyck zelf op is aangebracht, of dat dat is gebeurd bij een restauratie in 1550 waarbij de Utrechtse schilder Jan van Scorel betrokken was.

The restoration started in 2019 and the prognosis is that it will be finished in 2024. The restoration focusses on the exterior of the tower.
